Happy Holidays from Synergy Dental Center! We hope that this festive season will bring you plenty of reasons to smile!
Our Gillette, Wyoming dentist’s office is here to help you stay on track, in terms of oral health, all year round and through every stage of life. We do it all under one convenient roof so that you won’t have to drive all over town to get the high-quality dental care you deserve. But more than that, we are also here to help you work through any issues that may arise along the way.
One common problem we encounter in our line of work is that of bad breath.
Having bad breath from time to time is embarrassing, for sure but it is also to be expected. However, today we are talking to those who suffer from a chronic condition known as halitosis. This is nothing to be ashamed of and there is plenty that you can do to better your situation.
Take a look at our suggestions for getting a handle on bad breath, and then be sure to schedule your next appointment at Synergy Dental Center.
Don’t Reach For The Breath Mints
We know, when you get a horrible taste in your mouth, it’s easy to grab a mint, cover it up, and move on. The only thing is, most mints are full of sugar. After the mint has dissolved in your mouth, all that lingers is a sugary residue that actually feeds the bacteria causing your breath problems. It can be a vicious cycle. If you have to, try chewing on some sugar-free gum instead of mints.
Chronic bad breath is caused by bacteria. Brushing will go along way towards keeping your mouth clean but flossing is an even better weapon. You should floss twice a day or more to drive the dangerous bacteria out from the hard-to-get regions in-between your teeth.
Pay Attention To Your Tongue
If you are afflicted with chronic bad breath, take some time to scrape and brush your tongue twice a day. Do it when you brush and floss! It will help, we promise!
Saliva naturally eliminates the bacteria in your mouth that is causing the bad breath. But in order for saliva to be produced, you need to drink enough water. The great part is that in many places the water is infused with fluoride, which further protects your smile. Score!
