EBOO, or Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation, is performed using specialized equipment that allows blood to circulate outside the body during treatment. The blood is exposed to a controlled oxygen-ozone mixture before being returned to the circulation.
Research published in the National Library of Medicine on extracorporeal blood oxygenation and ozonation describes EBOO and its underlying treatment process.
Because EBOO involves extracorporeal blood treatment, the process differs from simply inhaling ozone. Your Synergy team will explain the procedure, review your medical history, and address any questions before treatment begins.

Patients may explore EBOO as part of a comprehensive approach to wellness. Depending on individual circumstances, potential areas of interest may include:
These goals may also be supported through complementary wellness services available at Synergy, such as red light therapy, which can be incorporated into a broader approach to recovery and well-being.
Individual experiences and outcomes vary. EBOO is intended to complement, rather than replace, appropriate medical or dental care.

EBOO is not appropriate for every patient, which is why Synergy begins with an assessment rather than immediately proceeding with treatment. Your provider will review your health history, discuss your goals, and complete the necessary laboratory testing before determining whether EBOO is an appropriate option.
Being an active, established Synergy patient and completing the required medical assessment are prerequisites for receiving EBOO ozone therapy.

Patient safety is an essential part of the EBOO process. Before beginning treatment, Synergy requires a CBC, CMP, and G6PD blood test. These laboratory tests help evaluate your health and determine whether ozone-based treatment is appropriate.
G6PD is an enzyme that helps protect red blood cells from oxidative damage. The required blood draw can be completed in our office before your first EBOO session. Laboratory testing must be repeated every three months while you are receiving EBOO.
If testing identifies a G6PD deficiency, ozone treatment may not be appropriate. In these cases, Synergy may offer EBO2, a blood-filtering approach performed without ozone. Your provider can determine whether EBO2 is suitable based on your individual assessment.

If you are considering EBOO, it is helpful to understand what the treatment involves and how it may fit into your overall care. During your consultation, you can ask about:
Having these questions answered can help you make an informed decision about whether the therapy fits your needs. Synergy also offers ozone sauna therapy as another wellness service that may be discussed with your care team.

At Synergy, we consider how whole-body wellness may complement dental treatment. EBOO may be incorporated into a patient’s care plan when clinically appropriate.
Healthy gums depend on effective circulation, oxygen delivery, and the body's ability to respond appropriately to inflammation. EBOO may complement conventional periodontal treatment by supporting these processes. It is not a substitute for professional treatment of gum disease but may be considered as an additional component of a comprehensive care plan.
Preparing for dental surgery involves more than addressing the treatment site. When appropriate, EBOO may be incorporated into a preoperative wellness plan to support circulation, oxygenation, and the body's natural healing processes. Synergy's Superhuman Protocol may also be discussed as part of the practice's broader recovery and wellness offerings.
Postoperative care plays an important role in recovery. EBOO may complement recommended aftercare by supporting the body's natural healing response and overall recovery following a dental procedure. Treatment recommendations will depend on your procedure, health history, and individual needs.
